Who am I?

I’m Jérémy Chatard, a french web developper and project manager at Breek. Did I mentionned that I am also one of the co-owner?

What I (we) do

Breek is a web shop. We are building high value websites for french companies. We have the chance to work for some famous brand (well at least in France) like Radio France, La Poste, Micromania, 01informatique, Mandriva, Nestlé Waters, etc.

We focus on finding solutions for our clients. Thinking and writing specifications (both functional and technical), managing the project with differents clients, shops and leading all those people working well together. We also code web projects with lots of differents technologies (more on this after). We offer training to our clients but also to other french chops. We cover topics like project management, using and coding for Drupal, usability and accessibility. I think I can easily say we are experts, but our clients are the best ones to tell!

Developer profile

I use technologies such as PHP for projects built with Drupal, Wordpress or any solution built on top of the LAMP stack.

I also have a strong experience in developing solutions using Ruby on Rails framework, among other things you can take a look at Benchmarkr which is built on RoR.

But I have to admit that I do prefere (at least for now) to work on LAMP projects, and espacially with the Drupal CMS / framework. I do have strong skills in using it (since version 4.7), programming with its API and making it as optimized as possible. This why I’ve put a lot of interest in configuring and optimizing the Linux based Debian operating system. I have to admit that I’m nerd and I do love tweaking our servers configuration files along with implementing solutions like Varnish (a reverse proxy), memcached and APC among other thing, all this to design a strong caching and performance strategy.

For my projects I’m using (in fact, we at Breek) are using the now well known VCS Git with Redmine (a project management software built with Ruby on rails). Well enough for now.

Real life

I’m a 27 year old french guy living in Orléans, France. I like traveling and taking pictures of places I see, you can check some thoses in my flickr profile.

In the past I was a student at Hétic. Now I’m a Breek guy for almost 6 years now and this is just the begining!

Did I mentioned that this is my blog? Well this is done. Don’t believe I write on regular basis, this is not true as you can see on my archives page. You can also ask me “Why on Earth are you using Wordpress for your blog?”. The short answser is “I don’t know”. The long answer is really too long, so you won’t know.
